Hard lenses retain their shape (RGP lenses). Measuring these types of lenses requires more knowledge and skill than soft lenses and will therefore take a little longer.
Benefits of hard lenses:
• Hard lenses allow more oxygen to pass through, which is better for the eye;
• Hard lenses last a long time: 2 or 3 years;
• Hard lenses are therefore cheaper than soft lenses;
• All eye corrections are possible.
• Chance of infection and inflammation is smaller than with soft lenses.
Disadvantages hard lenses:
• It takes longer to get used to hard lenses, on average 3 weeks;
• Hard lenses are sensitive to dust under the lens;
• Daily cleaning is necessary;
• You can lose the lenses more easily, for example with water sports.
